Valerie Ashton
Pastels, Acrylics, Mixed Media
& Upcycled Jewellery
Valerie Ashton has studied fine art at York University, the Haliburton School of the Arts, as well as taking ongoing courses & workshops. She is a member of the Markham Group of Artists, a signature member of the Pastel Artists of Canada, as well as an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists. Her work is shown in both public and private galleries, has been accepted into many juried shows and won numerous awards.
As an artist, Valerie feels that her main goal is to explore her creativity. She uses pastel, acrylics, and collage to allow herself to see how far she can stretch that creativity, to push herself while thoroughly enjoying the process. Valerie’s recent works have been inspired by her travels. While exploring Italy she was drawn by the colourful graffiti found throughout the country. Taking her cues from this unique art form she began exploring even more creative forms of expressing herself, leading to the newest mixed media pieces. She is hoping her recent trip to China will inspire even more creativity to flow into her work.
